At Foxdell, we teach Design and Technology (to include cooking and nutrition) through a variety of creative and practical activities. Children are taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in an iterative process of designing and making.
They work in a range of relevant contexts including:
Designing purposeful, functional and appealing products for themselves and other users based on design criteria.
Making by selecting from a wide range of materials including construction materials, textiles and ingredients.
Evaluating by exploring existing products and meeting design criteria of their ideas and products
Children are taught to develop their technical knowledge through building structures and exploring how they can be made stronger. They have the opportunity to use mechanisms in their products such as levers, sliders, wheels and axles.
